Senior Director, IT
POSITION SUMMARY
The Sr. Director of IT is responsible for defining and delivering IT strategy and capabilities across the organization, as well as for the implementation and maintenance of current systems and services. The IT leader must ensure maximum uptime and stability in the Company’s computer systems and networks.
As a leader in IT, this position will be responsible for giving oversight and direction to IT and business leaders on strategy, standards, and opportunities for shared services and economies of scale. This role will also work to develop, and execute against, the annual IT operating budget, focusing on the plan of execution of the Company’s overall strategy.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- As a member of the senior management team, make a key contribution to the formulation of the Company’s business strategies.
- Proactively advise the senior management team on the emerging technologies and trends that are most relevant to the Company’s goals and evolving needs.
- Develop an IT vision, strategy, and a roadmap, and lead the IT team and its business partners in effective execution.
- Ensure, on an ongoing basis, that current and planned technical architecture, investments and solutions are aligned with Company business objectives.
- Build strong relationships with business groups and their leaders across the enterprise, and develop a detailed understanding of their issues, challenges, and opportunities.
- Lead the functional areas of Infrastructure, Applications including enterprise applications, IT operations and end users support services.
- IT Infrastructure – Responsible for setting the strategy for IT infrastructure, and for current and future organizational needs, with complete knowledge of the Company’s network architecture.
- Applications and services – Oversee maintenance and implementation of all software applications and services, including but not limited to: ERP system, CRM, MS Office, IoT, Business Intelligence, etc. Lead efforts to scope new product development and/or selection when applicable.
- Data Protection / Security – Secure high value data and high value users, make key decisions on IT investments that bolster the Company’s defenses, implement changes that improve detection, monitoring, and response management. Define/maintain security policy and best practices. Perform internal security audits and reports.
- Compliance / Regulatory – Drive IT compliance programs; define and promote IT policies, procedures and standards that align with all regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Responsible for all implementation, documentation, and maintenance of ITGC as necessary under the Company’s SOX environment.
- Prepares and maintains technical specifications and related documentation to secure procedures and prevent system failure. Responsible for Company’s disaster recovery plan.
- Researches and makes recommendations on hardware and software purchases. Negotiates with vendors on behalf of the Company to ensure cost-effective purchasing decisions.
- Manage operating and capital budgets. Manages budget and controls expenses effectively.
- Lead staff responsible for the day-to-day operations and administration of the strategic and tactical projects within their functional prevue (infrastructure, operations, end user support and collaboration applications). Hires, trains, develops, and appraises staff effectively.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- BS/BA in computer science or equivalent combination of education and experience. MS or equivalent preferred.
- Ten or more years of relevant, progressive experience managing an information systems department in a medium or large size firm.
- Solid technical knowledge and experience in the use and application of the most current technologies and products used in the industry. Comprehensive knowledge of essential IT functions including network infrastructure, storage, servers, databases, cloud computing, disaster recovery, security, telecommunications, and vendor management.
- Proven experience managing and leading IT teams consisting of onsite resources, contractors, consultants, and managed services providers.
- Experience in compliance with relevant data protection regulations (PCI, HIPAA, GDPR, SOC1/2 requirements and controls).
